Notes on Creativity

I revel in spaces with lots of light, movement, art, imagination, soul & fun.

Creativity begins when you follow what you truly love. What activities bring you peace, joy, and a sense of timelessness? What makes you lose yourself completely, craving more of that experience day after day?

Make a list of these activities and keep it close. If you're not sure what brings you joy yet, begin with an empty list and start experimenting. Try things you’ve always wanted to. Begin with one small action each day that lights you up. Let yourself fully enter the creative flow, and don’t stop. Tending to your joy and creativity is not a luxury, it’s your birthright. This is the highest expression of your free will.

Don’t create for others. Create because your soul calls you to it. Some days, you may only scribble lines and dots; other days, you’ll shape masterpieces. Both are sacred. Give your creativity time and space. It’s always worth it.

And when you're ready, share it. Let the world see your creations. Imposter syndrome may show up, but even the greats felt that. Let go of doubt and self-judgment. You were made perfectly, and your creative expression deserves to be seen. Honor your inner creator, do the heartfelt work, and release it into the world with love.

Sometimes I write notes like this to not only inspire. Other creators, but also for myself. When the doubts crawl into my mind, times when I feel insecure about my skills and at times when I feel dysfunctional. I know my mind is not a mechanical machine that churns out creativity on command. I savor my craft and take my sweet time to create something unique, when inspired and when driven.

Let the world that runs at bullet-train speed not rush you when your creativity stalls. There is faith in seasonality. There is a season for art, crafting, creating, resting, moving, wandering. Believe that the creative flow will find you when the time is right. But you must and should give your heart the chance to receive. Give it time. Give it a shot! You got this :)

Love,
